This memorial is in loving memory of 9 month old Lucas Payton Theede-Bennett
Lucas's life was tragically cut short by someone who was suppose to care for him, his baby sitter.
There is some confusion on this memorial for Lucas. His murderer was his baby sitter Brenda Jean Caringer not his Mother. his Mother loved him very much.

No Fear in Heaven
There are so many things in life that we can't understand,
like why a tragedy like this can happen in this land.
One moment life is perfect and the next it falls apart,
leaving us with nothing but an eternally aching heart.
Our souls cry out in agony amidst the suffering and despair.
We feel the pain and tear our clothes and scream "It isn't fair!".
Spirits are now shattered. Hearts will never be the same.
We grasp at straws and seek to find the one who is to blame.
Horrific as our life now seems, one thing remains quite true.
Our little ones have now been freed to do things angels do.
They can't recall the horrors of those last days they were here.
They remember not the terror, the hurt, nor the fear.
There is no fear in Heaven. No more sorrow. Only Joy.
It's filled with joyous laughter from each little girl and boy.
We can only try to imagine, in spite of all earthly wrongs,
our little angels are learning the words to the Angel's songs.
Amidst the children's laughter and their Heavenly play,
there's also more important work going on there today.
Jesus is building mansions, never taking time to sleep,
for Reunions are being planned, yes, even as we weep.
The children gather around Him and listen to Him speak,
for He has all the answers that they curiously seek.
He tells them for a time, in Heaven, they must wait,
and then they can meet us at Heaven's pearly gate.

This is an absolute tragedy; words cannot express the sympathy I have for the family and friends of baby Lucas. You will all be remember in my prayers.
My nephew, William Samuel Pratt, was almost 3-months old when he died in the home of his babysitter on Feb 2, 2009 in Pilot Knob, MO. The babysitter initially reported that he just stopped breathing, but the autopsy revealed he died from a non accidental head trauma. The babysitter has been charged with abuse of a child resulting in death and involuntary manslaughter. You can read about the story in Daily Journal Newspaper at the following links:

The babysitter was charged and arrested in July 2009, after being bailed out of jail SHE CONTINUED TO BABYSIT CHILDREN. Law enforcement told us they did not have the authority to stop her. There are laws to prevent licensed childcare providers from caring for children when accused of child abuse, however there IS NO LAW TO PREVENT UNLICENCED childcare providers from continuing to care for children after they are accused of child abuse.
My family was devastated when the woman who killed our baby continued to babysit children. The thought that she could do this to another child was heartbreaking. In September 2009 there was another hearing. The prosecutor begged the judge not to let her watch children, but the judge ruled she could babysit children over 3 years of age. The babysitter’s trial has been set for Oct 2010, and she still continues to watch children.
ALL PEOPLE ACUSED OF CHILD ABUSE SHOULD NOT BE BABYSITTING CHILDREN, until the charges are disposed of.
However, there is NO LAW to enforce this and MISSOURI’S CHILDREN ARE IN DANGER!
House Bill 1534 has been proposed in the Missouri House of Representatives. IF THE BILL PASSES, it will create Sam Pratt’s law which will give the Department of Health the authority to prevent unlicensed childcare providers from continuing to provide childcare based on pending criminal charges. THIS LAW NEEDS TO BE PASSED ASAP! CHILDREN ARE IN DANGER!
However, the law making process is a slow one. The Speaker of the House Ron Richard assigned the bill to the standing committee of children and families on 2/17/10. Cynthia Davis is the chairperson of that committee. She decides IF THE COMMITTEE WILL HEAR THE BILL and IF THE COMMITTEE WILL VOTE ON THE BILL. If Cynthia Davis decides not to have the committee hear or vote on the bill, then the bill will not be made into law. The bill is not currently schedule for any hearings.
Please help protect Missouri’s Children by supporting House Bill 1534!

My little angel up above,
